Lilac Umbrellas, established in 2013, originates from a friendly, professional and innovative umbrella-making family. Lilac inherits the craftsmanship and heritage of modern umbrella materials and techniques from the UK (originating with the FOX), Germany, and Japan, spanning over two centuries. The founder Justin apprenticed with the “Master of the umbrella” Shoji Ohara (FOX’ s technical consultant).

What is the design philosophy behind Lilac’s products?

The Ohara’s Kyoto-style techniques in 1962 was inherited by Lilac. Adhering to the umbrella artisans’ philosophy: “Lifetime dedication to perfecting a single art”. Lilac combines traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial design, human-centric aesthetics, and the spirit of innovation.

What does your slogan mean?

The slogan “Blooming elegantly even in the Storm” came up with the founders Justin and Nancy, celebrates resilience-honoring those who brave life’s challenges with elegance.

It's very straightforward! Press the button for automatic opening. To close, press the same button and then gently push the canopy down until it locks into place.
